BOOTH PACKAGE INFORMATION

What your booth includes:

  • 7 ft. 10 in. Hard wall partitions with painted white walls

Please note, the booths are not a perfect 10x10 space. They vary in size from 101 sq. ft. to 123 sq. ft. The average booth size is 109 to 110 sq. ft.


Operational:
Description of walls – The walls are 7'10" high, and approximately 2" thick. Artists are allowed to nail, hang, screw, etc. into the booth walls. Molly Bolts are prohibited. All other picture hangers are acceptable including small nails and drywall screws. Each entry point can hold a maximum of 40 pounds. All booths must be left just as they were when exhibitor arrived. Repair charges will be assessed based on time and materials.

Load Bearing Columns – 95% of the booths will contain a portion of or full column. These columns are structural and cannot be moved. Most are 2' by 6" in size. They have a drywall finish and can be used, just as your walls would, to hang merchandise and exhibitor signage, and they are located inside your booth.

Booth Lighting – Each exhibit comes with a standard booth lighting package: (6) 75 watt halogen floodlights for every 100 sq. ft. of rented booth space. The first 15 minutes of light adjustments for every 100 sq. ft. of rented booth space is complimentary.

All electrical equipment must conform to the City of Chicago code requirements.

Zip cords, extension cords over 6', clamp lights, or track lights are not permitted.

All wiring or flexible cords shall be 3-wire, "hard usage approved," 12-gauge grounded, unless a component part of an assembly provided under Chicago Electrical Code.

Christmas tree lights are permitted only with the use of a GFI cord. GFI Cords must be rented through MMPI.


Operational, cont'd:
All fixtures must be UL listed, though this does not ensure passage of Chicago Electrical Code.

Only MMPI light tracks and fixtures are to be used. MMPI reserves the right to review all other lighting and electrical to ensure it meets the City of Chicago Electrical Code and Building Code. Additional charges may be assessed.

Tables and Chairs – Your booth package does not include tables or chairs. You are not limited to renting chairs and tables from MMPI. You can bring in your own tables, chairs etc. or rent one from one of our suggested vendors found in the back of the exhibitor manual that you will receive closer to the date of the show.

Security – Show security will be on duty 24 hours a day from move-in to move-out, but cannot and should not be counted on to provide more than a presence to inhibit theft. To help provide for the security of your merchandise in your booth, we advise you to staff your booth at all times and not to leave valuables unattended. Any exhibitor requiring special guard services may request such services with the approval of Show Management.

Accessible Storage – Secure storage will be available on-site during the show at no extra cost. To replace sold goods, exhibitors will have access to their stored materials from 8:00 am – 10:00 am during the show days. Only items that can be hand carried by an individual can be removed during show hours.

Wireless Internet Access – Available for a nominal daily charge, wireless internet access is available throughout the show floor for the convenience of exhibitors.

Merchandise Mart Labor Union Rules – Various unions claim jurisdiction over all set-up and dismantling of booths at The Merchandise Mart and union labor may be required for certain aspects of setting up your booth including any installation and dismantling requiring use of ladders, paint or power tools. You and your assistant may work along with a union installer.

The use of power tools and ladders is strictly prohibited. Artist’s use of two foot step stools, are permitted. Please bring your own supplies. The use of paint is strictly prohibited. Only union painters can paint on the floor.

Please note, a full exhibitor manual will be sent out by the end of September.

Booth packages and sizes are subject to availability.

Booth assignments are made at the sole discretion of show management. Each artist will receive their booth assignment and copy of the final floor plan by the end of September.
